Happy New Year, everyone! Last night at midnight people all around the world committed to a new beginning - a new year's resolution. Many will have promised to quit smoking, lose weight, start exercising, etc. Sadly, at the moment when they falter, they feel like a failure and give up.
As a believer, my circumstances are completely different. I am given the opportunity of a new beginning every morning.
Lamentations 3: 22, 23 "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is His faithfulness."
What an amazing gift - the chance to try again; start over; re-do, every day. This is the kind of Heavenly Father I have. One who loves me, even when I stumble and fall, and picks me up and sets me back on my feet so I can continue on my way.
My New Year's Resolution for 2011 is to begin each day with my Father, leaving the challenges of yesterday in the past, and facing the future with hope and anticipation.
